Long Beach residents are once again confronting concerns about public safety after two separate stabbings were reported within hours of each other on April 27, 2026.

The first incident occurred around 6:16 p.m. in the 1000 block of Market Street. Officers responded to reports of a stabbing and located an adult male suffering from a non-life-threatening wound to the lower body. He was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire personnel. Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the attack, including a possible suspect and motive, remain under investigation.
Just a few hours later, at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Pacific Avenue, where they found a female juvenile victim with stab wounds to the upper body. She was also taken to a hospital for treatment. In this case, police quickly located and arrested a suspect who had fled the scene. Police say the incident began as a confrontation between the victim and suspect that escalated into violence. The investigation is ongoing.
While both victims are expected to survive, the back-to-back incidents have heightened anxiety among residents and business owners, particularly in busy areas of the city.
Residents continue to call for increased police presence and expanded community outreach prevention programs. For many, these incidents are not isolated, but part of a broader pattern that is impacting quality of life across Long Beach.
As investigations continue, authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Meanwhile, residents are left grappling with the reality of recurring violence and its toll on the community’s sense of safety.
