A man was killed and two others were injured Tuesday evening following a construction collapse near the area of Pacific and 14th street at the Long Beach Rescue Mission, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., Long Beach Fire Department units responded to reports of a person down in an alley east of the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue. When crews arrived, they discovered a construction-related collapse and upgraded the incident to a trench rescue response.

Firefighters worked to remove three victims trapped in the trench. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional victims were rescued and transported to local trauma centers for medical treatment. Their conditions have not yet been released.
The collapse prompted a large emergency response as rescue crews worked to stabilize the scene and safely extract the victims from the trench.
