A triple shooting late Saturday night near Silverado Park has once again raised concerns among residents about ongoing gun violence in Long Beach and the city’s response to crime.

According to preliminary information, the shooting was reported at approximately 12:13 a.m. on May 24 in the 3200 block of Caspian Avenue. Officers with the Long Beach Police Department and firefighters with the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene after reports of multiple people shot at a home near the park.
Authorities said three victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims were conscious and breathing when emergency crews arrived, though one victim was reported in critical condition. Fire officials classified the incident as a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident due to the number of victims involved.
The victims told officers the shooting appeared to be a drive-by attack. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene as detectives continued processing evidence overnight. No suspect information has been released.
The latest shooting comes amid growing frustration from some Long Beach residents who say violent crime and shootings continue to impact neighborhoods across the city. Critics have also pointed to a lack of public comments from Rex Richardson regarding this latest shooting and broader concerns over rising violence in parts of Long Beach.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Long Beach Police Department.
