Fatal Shooting Under Investigation in Long Beach; SWAT Searching for Suspect

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in North Long Beach, prompting an ongoing search for the suspect by SWAT personnel.

According to authorities, officers responded at approximately 12:32 p.m. on May 28, 2026, to reports of a shooting near Cedar Avenue and Plymouth Street. When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Long Beach Fire Department rendered medical aid at the scene before transporting the victim to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded and SWAT personnel also deployed to assist in locating the suspect connected to the shooting. As of 6:00 p.m., SWAT officers were still actively searching the area for the suspect.

LBPD have not yet released information regarding a possible motive or suspect description.

The investigation remains ongoing.
