LONG BEACH, Calif. — Detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Monday night in West Long Beach, leaving one man dead.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:28 p.m. on June 1 to the 1800 block of Harbor Avenue following reports of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. Officers immediately began rendering aid until personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and took over medical treatment.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the suspect or suspects fled the area before officers arrived and remain outstanding.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation. Authorities have not released any suspect description, and investigators say the circumstances surrounding the attack, as well as a possible motive, remain under investigation.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
