Long Beach Healthcare Workers Protest at St. Mary Hospital

Healthcare workers at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach were joined by Vice Mayor Rex Richardson to address accusations of unequal treatment and lack of protections for security officers at Dignity Health – St. Mary Hospital the morning of Thursday, May 13th. The protest came a day after Service Employees International Union-United Health Care Workers West (SEIU-UHW) filed a formal hazard complaint with Cal/OSHA related to the hospital’s handling of the novel coronavirus.

City of Long Beach Will Begin Vaccinating Residents Ages 50 Years and Older Starting Today

Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach announced today that, effective immediately, the Department of Health and Human Services will begin vaccinating all residents, as well as those who work in Long Beach, ages 50 years and older. Long Beach will be one of the first health jurisdictions in California to expand vaccine access to people in this age group.
