Heat wave expected in Long Beach over Labor Day weekend

Excessive heat warning remains in effect from Friday 10am to 8pm Monday according to the National Weather Service.

Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

With high temperatures expected Labor Day weekend, Long Beach City Health Officer Dr. Anissa Davis has activated air-conditioned cooling centers throughout the city. 

Cooling centers will be available in park community centers Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, from noon to 6 p.m., at the following sites:

All centers are operating in compliance with the City’s Safer at Home health orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Health screenings, temperature checks, physical distancing and face coverings are required for visitors. Cleaning and disinfecting practices are also being conducted at each of the cooling centers.
