Daily Highlights
- In Long Beach, over the past two weeks, the number of new cases has increased by more than 120% — a much steeper curve than the City saw during the summer surge.
- The positivity rate is now at 5.9%, compared to 2.9% at its lowest.
- The case rate is 34 per 100,000, up from a low of 6.9 per 100,000.
- Since Nov. 1, the local area COVID-19 hospitalizations have increased 200%. While hospital capacity in Long Beach remains available, hospitalizations are climbing.
- The City broke all testing records on Friday, Nov. 20, when 2,534 tests were conducted. Yesterday, 1,370 people were tested, which is twice the usual volume on Sundays.
- The City will be aligning with the County to prohibit in-person dining at restaurants, breweries, wineries and bars beginning Wednesday, Nov. 25, for the next three weeks, at minimum, to slow the spread of transmission in Long Beach. An updated health order will be forthcoming.
- The City continues to expand testing and surpass State requirements. People may schedule an appointment online or by calling 562.570.INFO (4636). Appointments can be made up to three days in advance.
- Two public-facing Fire Department employees have tested positive for COVID-19, including:
- An employee assigned to Fire Station 21, who is not a Long Beach resident. They were last at work on Nov. 16 and are now recovering at home.
- An employee who is not a Long Beach resident. They were last at work on Nov. 20 and are now recovering at home.
Long-Term Care Facility Case Information:
- A total of1,519 positive cases have been confirmed at LTCFs in the city since the start of the pandemic (see attachment).
