Parks and Open Space Grants Awarded

The Board of Harbor Commissioners has approved a total of $4.3 million in six parks and open space projects in Long Beach and Los Angeles. These projects are served as buffers between port-related impacts and the surrounding communities. Elements include landscaping and trees, noise buffers, irrigation, stormwater systems, and construction of paved areas that will help create access and use of open space.

The projects are in contribution to the Community Grant Program from the Port of Long Beach. The program is an effort to lessen the Port’s impacts on the community and to help reduce the effects on air quality, traffic, and water quality. The goal is to invest $46.4 million towards community-based projects in the next 12 to 15 years.
