Details Regarding Fatalities:
- 91 are associated with long-term care facilities
- Ages:
- 2 were in their 40s
- 7 were in their 50s
- 25 were in their 60s
- 28 were in their 70s
- 35 were in their 80s
- 21 were over 90
- 50 female, 68 male
- All individuals had underlying health conditions
- At this time, to avoid risk to patient privacy, no further details will be provided
Long-Term Care Facility Case Information:
- 763 positive cases have been confirmed at a total of 29 long-term care facilities (LTCF) in the city since the start of the pandemic (see attachment).
- Twenty-nine is a cumulative number; the Health Department is currently monitoring long-term care facilities with active cases. These cases include both facility residents and staff members (who may not be residents).
- Long Beach has a total of 71 LTCFs, including assisted living and skilled nursing, that are currently open and operating in the city.
- In line with the California Department of Public Health’s standard for listing skilled nursing facilities with positive cases, the City is listing facilities currently experiencing outbreaks (more than two cases of COVID-19) including counts for health care workers and residents.

- Information regarding positive cases, hospitalizations and demographic breakdown is available online at longbeach.gov/COVID19 and on the City’s digital dashboard, providing the most up-to-date information available (see attachment).
Today’s Highlights:
- Bars, wineries and nail salons may open today, provided they meet physical distancing and sanitization requirements to protect against the spread of COVID-19. Religious services and cultural ceremonies, such as funerals, can now be conducted outside, with modifications. A new “Safer at Home” Order has been issued.
- Today and this weekend, the City will distribute free face shields to Long Beach-based bars, restaurants and personal care establishments on a first come, first served basis until supplies are no longer available. Face shields are available for pickup in the parking lot of Long Beach Fire Department Headquarters (3205 Lakewood Blvd.) on the following days and times:
- Friday, June 19, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. – noon
- Sunday, June 21, from 9 a.m. – noon
- The City has launched a ConnectedLB Platform to help Long Beach residents access low-cost internet services.
- A Long Beach Police Department officer who works in the East Division has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee’s last shift was on Sunday, June 14, and they are currently recovering at home in self-isolation. Efforts are currently underway for the cleaning of the police facility and equipment. Those with close contact with the officer have been quarantined. The employee is not a Long Beach resident and thus is not included in the case count for the city.
- A Long Beach firefighter assigned to Station 22 has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee, a Long Beach resident, last worked on Wednesday, June 17, and is isolating at home.
- Reminders:
- Long Beach City College, Pacific Coast Campus (1305 Pacific Coast Hwy.) will be the only City-operated testing site open on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21; hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Both the Public Information Line and the Joint Information Center now operate during normal business hours, weekdays only.
- In response to demand, the City is expanding community listening sessions and adding three open forum town halls in its efforts to create meaningful change for all aspects of racial injustice and inequity in Long Beach.

- Amendments to the Self-Isolation and Quarantine orders requiring individuals with COVID-19 to self-isolate, and those at risk to self-quarantine (5/8)
