Details Regarding Fatalities:
- 97 are associated with long-term care facilities
- Ages:
- 2 were in their 40s
- 8 were in their 50s
- 26 were in their 60s
- 30 were in their 70s
- 42 were in their 80s
- 22 were over 90
- 55 female, 75 male
- All individuals had underlying health conditions
- At this time, to avoid risk to patient privacy, no further details will be provided
Long-Term Care Facility Case Information:
- 863 positive cases have been confirmed at a total of 30 long-term care facilities (LTCF) in the city since the start of the pandemic (see attachment).
- Thirty is a cumulative number; the Health Department is currently monitoring long-term care facilities with active cases. These cases include both facility residents and staff members (who may not be residents).
- Long Beach has a total of 71 LTCFs, including assisted living and skilled nursing, that are currently open and operating in the city.
- In line with the California Department of Public Health’s standard for listing skilled nursing facilities with positive cases, the City is listing facilities currently experiencing outbreaks (more than two cases of COVID-19) including counts for health care workers and residents.

- Information regarding positive cases, hospitalizations and demographic breakdown is available online at longbeach.gov/COVID19 and on the City’s digital dashboard, providing the most up-to-date information available (see attachment).
Today’s Highlights:
- Four public safety employees have tested positive for COVID-19. All are recovering. Please note that only Long Beach residents are included in the City’s total count. They include:
- A Fire Department employee at Station 3, not a Long Beach resident, who was last at work June 22.
- A Fire Department employee at Station 7, not a Long Beach resident, who was last at work on June 16.
- A Police Department employee stationed at North Division, not a Long Beach resident, whose last day at work was June 21.
- A Police Department employee stationed at LBPD headquarters, a Long Beach resident, whose last day at work was June 24.
- Governor Newsom yesterday announced the mandatory closure of bars in Los Angeles County, including those in Long Beach, effective today.
- The City is encouraging everyone to safely enjoy the 4th of July holiday, and takes seriously the job of enforcing the Long Beach Fireworks Ordinance. All personal fireworks, including those labeled Safe and Sane, are prohibited in the City of Long Beach.
- The City announced that it will distribute more free face shields to Long Beach-based bars, restaurants and personal care businesses, up to 20 per establishment. Business representatives may pick up shields on Wednesday, July 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Long Beach Fire Department Headquarters, 3205 Lakewood Blvd.

- Amendments to the Self-Isolation and Quarantine orders requiring individuals with COVID-19 to self-isolate, and those at risk to self-quarantine (5/8)
