Police Investigating Man's Death as Homicide Long Beach

UPDATE: The victim is a 37-year-old black man who is homeless, said Coroner’s Lt. Fred Corral. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The man died of a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at approximately 10:17 a.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the area of West Shoreline Drive and Pine Avenue to assist Long Beach Fire Department personnel who determined a male adult deceased at the scene.

The victim sustained an injury to his torso. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will determine cause of death.

At this time, the victim is not being identified pending notification of next of kin.

A motive is unknown. The suspect is outstanding and the investigation remains ongoing.
