LBPD need your help locating George Clevland Crout

LBPD need your help locating George Clevland Crout Jr.

The Long Beach Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a 77-year-old critical missing person, George Clevland Crout Jr., who was last seen on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at approximately 2:30 p.m.

George was last seen leaving the area near Lakewood Boulevard and Willow Street in Long Beach, driving his 2013 Toyota Camry. His destination is unknown, and he currently resides in Long Beach. George suffers from a medical condition(s) and may become easily disoriented.

The critical missing person is described as follows:

Age: 77-years-old
Gender: Male
Race: Black
Height: 6’02”
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair: Black hair, mustache
Eyes: Brown
Clothing: Black baseball cap, “Disabled Vietnam Veteran” in gold writing, blue long sleeve crew neck shirt, blue jeans, burgundy Nike shoes
Vehicle- 2013 Toyota Camry, dark grey, CA LIC #DP986KG
Jewelry: None
Scars/Marks: None
Visible Dental Work: None
Medical Alerts: Suffers from medical condition(s) and may become easily disoriented

@southwestair Announces New Hawaii Service from @lgbairport

Long Beach, CA – Southwest Airlines announced today that it will launch daily nonstop service from Long Beach Airport (LGB) to Honolulu beginning in March 2021. The new flight is Southwest’s only direct connection between Hawaii and the Greater Los Angeles area. Flights go on sale today at southwest.com. “Southwest Airlines continues to be an important partner at Long Beach Airport,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “Our airport is a key economic engine for our city and this is positive news for our financial recovery. We expect even more good news soon.”

The air carrier is expected to announce additional new destinations in the coming weeks, as part of a recent increase from 17 to 34 daily slots at LGB. Southwest is currently only operating approximately 16 daily flights but more flights will come online as demand for air travel returns.

“We are thrilled to be selected as the first airport in the Los Angeles metropolitan area to offer direct Southwest flights to Hawaii,” said Long Beach Airport Director Cynthia Guidry. “We believe there is no better way to start your Hawaiian vacation than with our open air concourse and resort-like atmosphere.”

Today’s news from Southwest Airlines was part of a nationwide schedule announcement as the airline seeks to adapt to fluctuating demand as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Leisure travel appears to be recovering more quickly than business travel.

City Launches BizCare Program to Support Small Bus

City Launches BizCare Program to Support Small Businesses Impacted by Pandemic. Long Beach, CA – Today, via livestream, the City unveiled a new program, Long Beach BizCare, that will support small businesses from across the city which have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The City is committed to supporting our small businesses and groups that have been impacted most by the pandemic,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “BizCare takes City Hall resources out into our most impacted communities to provide much-needed assistance during this unprecedented COVID-19 crisis.”

BizCare mobile pop-ups are available to all Long Beach small businesses and are focused on businesses in communities that have been most impacted by the pandemic. The pop-ups provide business owners or their representatives with free one-on-one, in-person support to complete grant applications and learn about other business and community resources, such as loans and free technical assistance. Multilingual translation services are available on-site at each of the pop-ups. The BizCare pop-ups are currently taking place through Dec. 30, as follows:

Mondays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Admiral Kidd Park (2125 Santa Fe Ave.)
Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Admiral Kidd Park; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.)
Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library; Mark Twain Neighborhood Library (1401 E. Anaheim St.)
Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mark Twain Neighborhood Library
Pop-ups at this location will begin on Dec. 2
BizCare pop-ups are equipped with PPE, laptops, wireless internet devices, printers and scanners to assist business owners with applying for COVID-19 grants. The pop-ups are held outdoors and safety protocols are in place.

The City will also be partnering with community-based organizations to help with additional business outreach and education for businesses impacted by the pandemic. @portoflongbeach to Offer Free Flu Shots.

Free flu vaccinations will be available to the public for one day only at the Port of Long Beach’s COVID-19 testing site to ensure the health and safety of labor partners and the community.

Flu shots will be administered Monday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2100 W. Anaheim St., a vacant lot located within the Harbor District at the southwest corner of Anaheim and Ninth streets. Please enter the lot from Ninth Street.

No appointments are necessary, but anyone receiving a flu shot must be 6 months of age or older. The Port is providing the vaccinations in partnership with the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services.

The flu shots are available as long as they last at the same site as a drive-up testing center for COVID-19 that was established in August. Free COVID-19 tests are provided at the testing center on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.

On-site registration for COVID-19 tests is available for Port-related personnel. Appointments are required for the general public and can be made online or by calling 562-570-INFO (4636).

3 people shot, wounded in Long Beach. by gunfire, two of which were juveniles.

The On November 5th, 2020, at approximately 4:40 pm, LBPD officers responded to the 700 block of Chestnut Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located three victims that were struck by gunfire, two of which were juveniles.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the victims were standing outside on a sidewalk when an unknown suspect opened fire. The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victims to local hospitals. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Officers are currently still investigating at the scene and potential suspects have been detained. LBPD have increased patrols in the area and will continue to have a heavy police presence.
