LBPD Detectives ID Three Suspects in Connection with Deadly Shooting

On September 10, 2020, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Long Beach Police Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a shooting that resulted in the death of one adult male.  

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. A female passenger was giving aid to the victim. Officers began lifesaving measures on the victim and requested paramedics. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire, and later pronounced deceased at the hospital. At this time, the victim is only being identified as a male adult pending notification to next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. 

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe three suspects were attempting to rob the victim and one of the suspects shot the victim during the commission of the crime. The suspects fled the location on foot prior to officers’ arrival. While searching the area, Patrol Officers recovered a rifle near the 500 block of E. 5th Street and located and detained the suspects in the 600 block of Long Beach Blvd. 

Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives arrested three suspects in connection with this case: 
• Mykeel Tucker Peddycoat, 23 years old and a resident of Long Beach, was booked for murder and is being held on $2,000,000 bail. 
• Branden Charles Wilson, 28 years old and a resident of Long Beach, was booked for murder and is being held on $2,000,000 bail. 
• Ayana Denae Powell, 19 yearsold and a resident of Long Beach, was booked for murder and is being held on $2,000,000 bail.
