53-Year-Old Man Shot and Killed in Long Beach

A 53-year-old man was shot on Wednesday at 11:48 p.m., in the Wrigley neighborhood of Long Beach. LBPD officers responded to assist the Long Beach Fire Department in the 1600 block of Pacific Avenue with a gunshot victim, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

The calling party stated that they arrived home from work and located a subject down on the sidewalk near their residence and requested paramedics. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and rendered medical aid; however, the victim was later determined deceased at the scene.

Long Beach police officers arrived on scene and observed a male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim was identified as Ray Cash Sr., a 53-year-old resident of Long Beach.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene. While the motive remains under investigation, the shooting is being investigated as gang related.
