Long Beach’s Popular Wibit Water Playgrounds Now Open for Summer Fun

Long Beach, CA – June 19, 2025 – Summer has officially splashed down in Long Beach with the City’s beloved inflatable “Wibit” aquatic playgrounds now open at Alamitos Beach and Bay Shore Avenue. The water play areas, which opened Friday, June 13, are free to the public and offer fun-filled, family-friendly activities through Monday, September 1.

Back by popular demand, the Wibit playgrounds transform the shoreline into floating obstacle courses, featuring climbing structures, bouncers, springboards, monkey bars, and more. Supervised by Long Beach Lifeguards daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the aquatic playgrounds are designed for active water play and beachside excitement.

“The return of the Wibit aquatic playgrounds is something families across Long Beach look forward to every summer,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “These free, fun and active amenities reflect our commitment to providing accessible recreation for all residents and visitors, right on our beautiful beaches.”

At Alamitos Beach, located south of Ocean Boulevard and east of Shoreline Drive, the Wibit features multiple floating play structures that invite kids and adults alike to bounce, climb, and cool off. Over at Bay Shore Avenue (5415 East Ocean Blvd.), beachgoers will find domes, bouncers, and climbing features nestled along the calm waters of Alamitos Bay.

“We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to the Wibit playground for another exciting summer season at Alamitos Beach,” said Second District Councilwoman Cindy Allen. “These inflatable play structures offer a safe and engaging way for people of all ages to enjoy our Long Beach waterfront.”

Third District Councilmember Kristina Duggan highlighted the Bay Shore Avenue location’s growing popularity, saying, “The Bay Shore Wibit at Alamitos Bay has become a beloved summer tradition in our community. We continue to enhance the bay’s recreational offerings and are proud to provide activities that bring joy to residents and visitors alike.”

To ensure safety, all participants must pass a swim test before using the playground features. Children under 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and personal flotation devices, including life jackets, are not permitted on the equipment.

The City reminds users that aquatic recreation carries inherent risks and encourages everyone to exercise caution, follow posted rules, and be aware that lifeguard supervision may be interrupted in the event of an emergency elsewhere.
