Two Men Injured in Shooting and Stabbing Following Argument in Long Beach

LONG BEACH — Two men were hospitalized Monday night after a confrontation in Long Beach escalated into both a shooting and a stabbing, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 9:56 p.m. on Aug. 11 in the 300 block of Anaheim Street, where officers initially responded to an assist fire call, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. He was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel.

A short time later, officers located a second man suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. He was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the men were in the 1100 block of Cedar Avenue when a verbal altercation broke out. The dispute escalated until the men allegedly shot and stabbed each other.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released details on potential arrests or charges.
