Long Beach, CA — A section of Bayshore Avenue was closed Friday morning after a large hole opened in the roadway, prompting an emergency response from the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD).

At approximately 10:43 a.m., fire crews arrived in the 300 block of Bayshore and discovered a hole measuring about 10 by 15 feet in the northbound traffic lane. LBFD units assessed the scene to ensure public safety before turning it over to Long Beach Public Works for further investigation and repair.

As of now, Bayshore Avenue remains closed in both directions between Vista and Appian Way while crews work to determine the cause and stability of the affected area. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
No injuries or vehicle damage were reported in connection with the incident.
