16-Year-Old Girl Stabbed in Long Beach After Fight Escalates

LONG BEACH, Calif. — A 16-year-old girl was injured in a stabbing Sunday evening in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Police responded around 6:23 p.m. on April 12 to the 2000 block of San Gabriel Avenue following reports of a person with a gun. When officers arrived, they discovered the call was actually an assault with a deadly weapon.

At the scene, officers located a teenage female victim suffering from a stab wound to her upper body. Personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department treated the victim at the scene. Her condition has not been released.

Investigators say the incident stemmed from a fight between the victim and the suspect that escalated, leading to the stabbing.

The suspect fled before officers arrived and has not been located.

The investigation remains ongoing.
