Long Beach Local News has teamed up with @lbanimalcare to help some animals find their ‘fur ever’ homes!

We'd like to introduce you to sweet Ivy (#A666870)! Ivy came to Animal Care Services as a stray with another female pitbull in November. Her friend has been adopted, but sweet 7 year old Ivy is patiently waiting for her chance to leave this place with a forever family. She's low to mid energy, affectionate, loves to be pet and is treat motivated. Her days of being a puppy factory are behind her and she's ready for some relaxation and lots of TLC. If you're looking for the perfect companion for short walks, movie night on the couch and the best Ivy ever without having to have a green thumb, we've got the gal for you!

The shelter is over capacity. Please help network this gorgeous pup!

The Chicken Shack Menu is Back at @lucilles_bbq

The popular limited-time-only Chicken Shack menu returns to Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que today. This year’s Chicken Shack menu is the first one created by the new culinary director, Haim Asher, and features his personal twist on Southern favorites that are sure to please Lucille’s biggest fans.

Asher joined Lucille’s parent company, Hofman Hospitality Group, earlier this year bringing a new perspective on Southern cuisine centered around his South Carolina roots. Asher previously worked at some of the country’s best full-service restaurants with a Michelin rating and with James Beard Award-winning chefs.

“I could not be more excited to share these amazing new menu items with Lucille’s guests,” said Haim Asher. “Pull up a chair, sip on our famous housemade lemonade and feast on your new favorite dishes that pay homage to the humble yardbird at Lucille’s!”

Today, August 2, 2022, the City of Long Beach unveiled its Proposed Fiscal Year 2023 (FY 23) Budget, with a special presentation on a five-year Measure A Infrastructure Investment Plan. The Proposed FY 23 Budget is $3.2 billion and continues prioritizing significant pandemic recovery support for residents and business; implements new forward-thinking initiatives that promote safety, health and quality of life; and makes strong investments in the City’s infrastructure.

Long Beach Local News has teamed up with @lbanimalcare to help some animals find their ‘fur ever’ homes!

Niko (#A605387) is a 4 year old mix of perhaps a bit of Rottweiler, a bit of shepherd, maybe even a little Australian Kelpie and a whole lot of personality! The name Niko means Victory of the People, but so far it seems people have just let this big guy down. He's been waiting at our shelter since September for a chance at finding his forever family. He is a great size at 60 pounds, medium energy, smart and very treat motivated. He already knows several basic commands (may have the greatest high 5 ever) and is easy to walk on leash. Niko would do best with an adult only home with large breed experience. His new owner will need to be patient as it can take Niko some time to develop a bond with new people. With regular exercise, structure and guidance through new experiences, Niko will thrive and develop into the best boy he can be!

A man was found dead on Gundry Ave. near MacArthur

A man was found dead on Gundry Ave. near MacArthur Park early Friday morning.

He was found suffering from injuries to the upper body shortly after midnight.

Fire department paramedics tried to help him but declared him dead on the scene.

Long Beach Police confirmed the death is being investigated as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing and updates will be posted as they become available.
