Family of Murdered Grandfather Pleads For Public’s Help

The Family of Jose Corrales pleads for anyone to come forward with any information about the shooting. Corrales was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon as he was watering his front yard.

On Tuesday just after 3:00 p.m. the Long Beach police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Canal Avenue regarding a shots call, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult who had been struck in the upper torso by gunfire. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined the victim deceased at the scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives learned the victim was outside a residence with a group of male subjects when a light-colored sedan containing 3-4 subjects opened fire.

Detectives later learned another male adult victim in a nearby vehicle was also struck by gunfire and self-transported to a local area hospital.

The deceased victim has been identified as 69-year-old Jose Corrales of Long Beach.

The incident is being investigated as gang-related.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is urged to contact LBPD Homicide Detectives Michael Hubbard and Adrian Garcia at (562) 570-7244.
