Fatal collision between CHP motorcycle and pedestrian in Long Beach
Early Sunday at 4:40 a.m., LBPD officers responded to the intersection of Del Amo Blvd and Cherry Ave regarding an injury traffic collision between a motorcycle and pedestrian.

Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the victim deceased at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Preliminary information revealed that the motorcycle, an on-duty California Highway Patrol Officer, was traveling westbound on Del Amo when he struck a pedestrian that was in the roadway.
Collision Investigation detectives are on scene for the preliminary investigation that is on-going.
Currently, Del Amo Blvd is closed in both directions between Cherry Ave and Orange Ave.
