Woman struck and killed by hit-and-run semi-truck

On Wednesday at approximately 9:00 p.m., LBPD officers responded to a traffic collision involving a semi-truck with an attached trailer and a bicyclist at the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Downey Avenue, which resulted in the death of a female adult.

When Long Beach police officers arrived they found a 56-year-old female resident of Bellflower who had sustained serious injuries after being struck by a semi-truck. The truck and trailer did not remain on scene and left before officers arrived. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and attempted life saving measures, but the female bicyclist succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The semi-truck and trailer are described as having a white colored cab and large white colored trailer.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will assist in notifying next of kin.
