Motorcyclist Killed after Collision with Building in Long Beach

On Saturday at 11:00 a.m., LBPD officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 59th Street, which resulted in the death of a motorcycle driver.

When officers arrived, they located a 2009 Yamaha R6 which had collided into a building. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue from South Street, when he lost control, and collided with a building. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

At this time the driver is only being identified as a 22-year-old male resident of Long Beach, pending notification of next of kin.
