One Dead after Carjacking, SWAT Standoff and Police Shooting

A shooting involving a police officer has occurred in Long Beach 17th street and Lemon ave. the Long Beach Police Department reports. 

The incident happened around 12:29 p.m. Saturday when wittinesses say a man carjacked a woman then got on top of the roof of a 2nd story apartment building roof on 17th. Witnesses also reported the man had a gun.

LBPD SWAT was called to the scene and the suspect refused to come off the roof.

The standoff lasted about an hour when swat team approach the man they began giving him CPR. It is unclear how the person died. We are waiting on an update from Long Beach Police.
