Man dies following Vehicle collision with Fence Post

LONG BEACH, CA – On August 14, 2022 at approximately 7:04 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to the area of 7th Street and Daisy Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between a vehicle and a fence, which resulted in the death of a male adult. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male driver inside of a 2007 GMC Sierra suffering from injuries to the upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene, administered medical aid, and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the GMC Sierra drove over a raised cement center median and collided with a chain link fence post.

At this time, the driver is only being identified as a 51-year-old male, resident of the City of Lomita, pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. 

Alcohol, drugs, and distracted driving are still under investigation as possible factors in this collision. No other vehicles were believed to be involved.
