Things to do this weekend: Dec. 11 and 12

Project Optimism and the Black Health Equity Collaborative are hosting the 4th Annual Power of Giving Toy Drive and Resource Fair is going on this Saturday, Dec. 11 at Houghton Park at 6301 Myrtle Ave. from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Each family can register for a one-time slot to be part of the toy giveaways, health screenings, and resources! The 67th Annual Daisy Avenue Christmas Tree Lane Parade is back this Saturday from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Hosted by the City of Long Beach and the Seventh District Councilmember Roberto Uranga, this year’s parade will include a shorter route for holiday-decorated vehicles and characters through Wrigley Neighborhood streets instead of the usual march on Daisy Lane. The parade will follow the flow of traffic so spectators can watch from any of the nearby streets. Go here for more details.

The Hi-Lo Holiday Market, hosted by the Hi-Lo Liquor Market, will also be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located at 707 E. Ocean Blvd, this event will provide a DJ, art, mulled wine, and multiple artisanal vendors to shop from. You can find more information here.  

Do you have a French bulldog? Then this event is for you and your furry friend! You can find the ‘Holiday Frenchie Meetup with the French Beachdogs’ at Rosie’s Dog Beach at 10 a.m. this Saturday. Bring your dog’s favorite ugly holiday sweater for a chance to win a prize at the costume contest at 11 a.m. For more information, go here. here.

If you’re looking for something to do on Sunday, The Pedal Movement has you covered. The ‘Sleigh The Night’ roller disco is happening on Dec. 12 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m at 1 Junipero Ave. Rental skates are available in sizes 3-16 and attendees under the age of 18 require a parent signed waiver to enjoy this event.
