LBCC’s Pacific Coast Campus will be the site of this walk-up clinic working in conjunction with the City of Long Beach and the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services. The City of Long Beach will be opening a no-cost Rapid Assessment Clinic at the Pacific Coast Campus, in addition to staging a field hospital at the Long Beach Sports Arena and establishing mobile hospital tents at local area hospitals, in anticipation to treat a surge in COVID-19 patients. “LBCC has long had its finger on the pulse of the city as its community college, which is why we take the responsibility of supporting our neighbors during these unprecedented times so seriously,” said Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees President Vivian Malauulu. “We are fortunate to be able to contribute our campus to assist first responders and alleviate the stress from our local hospitals as they prepare for the many anticipated COVID-19 patients that will need medical care in the upcoming weeks. The Pacific Coast Campus is in the heart of my Trustee Area so it presents an extra layer of pride for me to be able to serve our immediate community with this much needed resource.” “Long Beach City College is proud to partner with the City of Long Beach and serve our community during this extraordinary time,” said LBCCD Interim Superintendent-President Lou Anne Bynum. “We hope that the Pacific Coast Campus will help our healthcare heroes and our community members by easing the strain at our local hospitals.” The walk-up Clinic will provide medical assistance to people who might otherwise feel compelled to visit an emergency room for their conditions. It will not provide treatment, take X-rays or fill prescriptions on site, but will provide medical assessments and will renew and prescribe medications for people with routine health maintenance issues. People needing prescription renewals are urged to bring a list of their current medications, or pill bottles if they have them. People who have a cough, fever without rash, sore throat or moderate flu-like symptoms will be evaluated in a separate area and, based on their medical assessment, may be referred for testing for COVID-19.

LBPD Arrest Sexual Assault and Kidnapping Suspect.

The Long Beach Police Department has made an arrest of a male adult suspect wanted in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping that occurred involving a female victim.

Sex Crimes detectives were actively investigating the incident and following up leads. During their investigation, they were able to identify the person they believed to be responsible for the assault and kidnapping. He was identified as 39-year-old Jacob William Brown of Long Beach.

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Long Beach PD detectives obtained a $1,000,000 Ramey Warrant for Brown’s arrest.

On Wednesday, March 24, 2020, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Brown was located outside of the City of Long Beach and taken into custody by Long Beach PD detectives. He was then booked at the Long Beach City Jail for the outstanding warrant and a bail was set at $1,000,000.

On Thursday, March 26, 2020, detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and charges were filed. Brown’s bail was set at $3,350,000.

Fatal single vehicle traffic collision in Long Bea

Fatal single vehicle traffic collision in Long Beach.
On Thursday, March 26, 2020 at approximately 2:06 a.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Bellflower Boulevard regarding a single vehicle, injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious male in the vehicle.

Long Beach Fire personnel arrived on scene and administered medical aid to the driver, however he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2010 Dodge Charger was traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on Bellflower Boulevard when he hit a dip in the road as he crossed E. 7th Street. In doing so, the 24-year-old driver from Long Beach, David Shelton Jr., lost control of his vehicle leaving over 225 feet of skid marks before running into a fire hydrant and a shopping center sign.
Shelton was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and it is unknown if alcohol, drugs or distracted driving was a factor in this collision.

Anyone with information regarding the collision are asked to contact Detective S. Fox of the Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail at (562) 570-7355.
