Suspect deceased after officer-involved shooting

On Wednesday 5/27/15, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of East 15th Street to assist Long Beach Fire Dept. LBFD requested our assistance with an intoxicated male adult who was acting violently. Witnesses who were with the subject prior to police arrival, said the subject was acting strange as if he was possibly under the influence. They got into an altercation with the subject in their apartment that lasted 10 minutes. The subject then jumped out of a 2nd story window exiting the apartment. The subject continued to be disruptive with them and neighbors when they went outside to help him. Upon the officer arriving and making contact with the subject, the subject was non-compliant with the officer and a use of force occurred. The officer initially used less lethal force options but the incident escalated and an officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect was hit and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No officers were injured, LBPD Homicide detectives responded and as did investigators with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigation is ongoing, We will update as soon as more information becomes available
