Special Olympics World Games Kick Off in Long Beach
The Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games kicked off in Long Beach Saturday.
The 2015 Special Olympics World Games will be held in Southern California from July 25, 2015, to August 2, 2015, and will bring athletes and coaches from 177 countries to compete in various sporting events. The City of Long Beach will host seven events in the downtown marina/beach area and at Marine Stadium and Belmont Pier. Events include a triathlon, half-marathon, open water swim, cycling, beach volleyball, sailing, and kayaking. Street closures related to the events are listed below. Please plan accordingly and use alternate routes.
