Long Beach State Track and Field Senior Thrower James Hubbard Earns USTFCCCA Second Team All-American Honors


LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State senior thrower James Hubbard was named to the USTFCCCA Men’s All-America Second Team it was announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches of America (USTFCCCA).

Hubbard earned the honors for the first time as a member of Long Beach State after placing 15th in the men’s weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday. Hubbard was a three-time All-American while a student-athlete at American River College.

The Auburn, Calif., native placed in the top 15 at Nationals with a heave of 20.11m (65-11.75) as he was the only Big West student-athlete to earn All-American honors.

Hubbard took home the accolade in his first-ever appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships after having previously made it as far as the West Region Prelims.

The Long Beach State school record holder will now turn his talents to the outdoor season as he and the Beach head to the USC Trojan Invite as well as the Baldy Castillo Invitational this weekend.
