One firefighter Killed, One Wounded in Shooting at Senior Housing Facility
One firefighter Killed, One Wounded in Shooting at Senior Housing Facility while responding to a fire alarm call at the Covenant Manor Senior Living Apartment Complex in the 600 Block of 4th Street.
Here is what we know right now. At 3:49am, Long Beach Fire received a call regarding a fire alarm at the complex. As they arrived to the area, the call was upgraded to an explosion with a possible gas leak. At 4:08am, two of the responding fire fighters were reportedly struck by gunfire. They both have been transported to a local Trauma 1 Hospital, one in critical condition, the other is stable with non-life threatening injuries.
One man has been taken into custody and no other information is available at this time according to Long Beach PD information Brad Johnson and Long Beach Fire PIO Jake Heflin.
#Update: 9:09am Fire Captain Dave Rosa 17 year Veteran of Long Beach Fire killed in the shooting. 3rd person also reportedly shot, civilian is critical and in surgery at St. Mary’s Medical.
