Harbor Commission Appoints Director of Finance

On May 15th, 2019 it was announced that Wei Chi is to lead the finance division at the nation’s second business port, The Port of Long Beach. The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the selection of Mr. Wei. He will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of the fiscal policies at the Port. This included: sound oversight of Harbor Department income, expenses, capital projects, and debt issuance and service; and budget alignment with the Port’s Strategic Plan. Revenues and existing funds help operate the port and is not funded by taxes or the City’s General Fund.

The Port of Long Beach is one of the world’s premier seaports, a gateway for trans-Pacific trade and a trailblazer in goods movement and environmental stewardship. With 175 shipping lines connecting Long Beach to 217 seaports, the Port handles $200 billion in trade annually, supporting more than 575,000 Southern California jobs.
