City of Long Beach Announces Long Beach Disaster Relief Fund for COVID-19 Response

The City of Long Beach, in partnership with the Long Beach Community Foundation, proudly announces the activation of the Long Beach Coronavirus Relief Fund. Financial contributions can be made to assist members of the local community who have been critically impacted as a result of the current public health crisis.

“It’s time to come together and help those most vulnerable in our community,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “We are proud to launch this fund to assist low income workers, seniors, small business owners, and others who need immediate relief and support. If you have the resources, please give to this fund.”

Donations to the Coronavirus Relief Fund will be used exclusively to assist Long Beach residents impacted by COVID-19 and are tax-deductible. Funding will be distributed to 501(C)3 nonprofit, educational, and governmental organizations through a request for proposal process, which will be announced in the coming days on the Long Beach Community Foundation website.

Donations can be made by:

  • Text: Text “SupportLB” to 501-55 and follow the prompts to donate.
  • PayPal: Use PayPal online or the smartphone application to @SupportLB.
  • Credit Card: Visit to fill out the secure online form.
  • Check:  Check donations may be mailed to Long Beach Community Foundation, 400 Oceangate, Suite 800, Long Beach, CA 90802. Please write Long Beach Coronavirus Relief Fund in the memo section of your check.

“Our priority is to be as accessible as possible to receive donations. Any amount will help those in need,” said Long Beach Community Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Marcelle Epley. “In the coming days and weeks, we will grant funds to organizations that are most qualified to help people in our community that are impacted by COVID-19. Funding will be available to organizations meeting the requirements of the Grant Application for purposes satisfying an identified community need.  Funding may change according to availability and need.

In 2018, the Long Beach Community Foundation and the City of Long Beach established the Long Beach Disaster Relief Fund for the purpose of providing funding to 501 C3 non-profit organizations and governmental and educational institutions for the benefit of Long Beach residents suffering the impacts of disasters.
