Man Shot and Killed near 6th and Olive in Long Beach

On Feb. 16, 2021, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Olive Avenue regarding a victim in need of medical attention inside a residence, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

The calling party reported returning home and finding a male roommate was laying on the floor and not responding. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Officers began life-saving measures and requested paramedics. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and rendered medical aid, however the victim was determined deceased at the scene. At this time, the victim is only being identified as a 31-year-old male pending notification to next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Through their preliminary investigation, detectives believe the shooting occurred at the residence. The motive for the shooting and additional suspect information is currently unknown. Detectives are actively working to gather additional information to further the ongoing investigation.
