Craft Beer LB Hosting Its First Homebrew Invitational

Craft Beer LB is hosting the first annual Homebrew Invitational on March 19 at Rancho Los Cerritos.

This event will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature more than 40 different Southern California homebrewers that will serve their own craft beers to any purchasers of a General Admission or VIP ticket.

The Homebrew Invitational is not just a collection of different homemade beer styles and flavors but is also a competition. Each person in attendance will receive tokens to vote for the alcoholic beverages and brewers they find are the tastiest.

The idea for the Homebrewing Invitational was generated a few years ago when Craft Beer Long Beach thought that there could be a chance for homebrewers to show off their talent to a wider audience.

“This new event has gotten good reception from the homebrewing community and a lot of people are excited about it,” says event coordinator Dennis Trilles.

“In Long Beach, a lot of the brewers started off as homebrewers too, so this is a great opportunity for the public to try what homebrewers are doing. Who knows, maybe one of the homebrewers will have their own brewery that people would like to visit, “said Trilles.

There will also be a Judge’s Choice award. The winner of this category will have the ability to brew their winning recipe with Syncopated Brewing and will be poured at an annual Craft Beer LB Fest on Sept 17.

Tickets for the Homebrew Invitational are $35 for General Admission and $55 for VIP.  Children 15 and under can attend free of charge. Anyone over the age of 16 or is a designated driver can purchase tickets for $15. Both General Admission and VIP tickets come with a souvenir tasting glass. VIP ticket holders will be allowed into the event from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Invitational will also feature food, artists, and drinks from established breweries as well as family activities.

Proceeds will benefit Rancho Los Cerritos, which is a Long Beach historical landmark that was built in 1884. The proceeds will help continue projects like ‘Looking Back to Advance Forward,’ which aims to create an innovative model for stormwater reclamation that can serve as a national model. The Rancho is located at 4200 Virginia Road
