LONG BEACH, CA – On April 4, 2022 at approximately 1:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 600 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a sexual assault of a minor.
Through the preliminary investigation, officers determined a Good Samaritan became aware of the incident as it was occurring and sought help. Several citizens detained the suspect until Long Beach Police Dep arrived on scene.
Officers contacted the suspect and discovered he had stab wounds on his body. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. At this time, it is unknown if the suspect sustained injuries during this incident or during an unrelated incident; the investigation to determine how he sustained the injuries is ongoing.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Jimmie Kirkwood, who was booked for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, assault with the intention to commit rape, and false imprisonment. His bail is set at $100,000. No other suspects are outstanding. The investigation is ongoing.
