Grand Prix Races Into Long Beach This Weekend

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is returning for its three-day race event on April 8-10 in Downtown Long Beach with multiple races, family expos, drifting, concerts and more. 

Over 180,00 fans will be able to witness an IndyCar Series race held at the heart of Long Beach.  

The 2021 race was pushed back last year, from April to September. Long Beach had not had a Grand Prix race since 2019 after race cancellation in 2020, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. With the state of California lifting the vaccination and masks requirement on April 1, there will be no Covid-19 mandates for this year’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.  

Traffic and delays will occur with street closures on Shoreline Drive and Seaside Way from April 6-11. 

The Grand Prix is open to all ages and contains a family fun zone with rock climbing walls, games, video games and racing simulators, Kids from ages three to six can race in their very own race cars. 

Multiple food trucks will be located near Shoreline Village. 

General Admission without reserved seating tickets is $108, single day tickets for Friday are $37, Saturday tickets are $74, and Sunday tickets are $79. Group bundles are available upon request by calling the ticket office at (888) 827-7333. Tickets can be purchased with reserved seating. The three-day admission tickets start from $92 to $168. Tickets for reserved seating on Saturday start at $81 and Sunday admission with reserved seating can be purchased from $65 to $103. 

Parking passes can also be purchased for Shoreline and Pike parking from $30-$60.  

The spectator gates will open as early as 7:30 a.m. for three days and will close after the last competition on Friday, and Saturday and Sunday after the final race on Sunday.

Friday will offer practices from Porsche Carrera Cup, IMSA, Historic IMSA GTP Challenge, Stadium Super Trucks, IndyCars, to the qualifying racers, IndyCar Autograph Session that is free to all spectators, and will end with Formula D Super Drift Challenge Competition #1 that runs from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Saturday will start off with the IndyCar Practice #2, followed by the first race of the event with the Porsche Carrera Cup Race #1. The IMSA Weathertech Championship Autograph Session is free to all spectators followed by a pre-race to Start of IMSA Sportscar Grand Prix of Long Beach. 

Two more races will be followed with Stadium SUPER Trucks Race #1 

and the Historic IMSA GTP Challenge Race #1. After the races, a concert starring Royal Machines w/special guests will be located at the Terrace Plaza. Saturday will end with the Formula D Super Drift Challenge Competition #2 that starts from 6:30-8pm 

Sunday will start off with an IndyCar warm up, followed by the Historic IMSA GTP Challenge Race #2. A car parade, hot laps, and pre-races will be held before the last three races. The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach of the 85 laps with 2022 NTT IndyCar Series will start at 12:45-3pm followed by Stadium SUPER Trucks Race #2 from 3:30-4pm and will end with Porsche Carrera Cup Race #2 from 4:20-5pm.
