LBLN Weekend Round-Up

LONG BEACH, CA – Life in Long Beach is never boring! There’s always something going on and LBLN has put together a list of events that you’ll want to check out this weekend.

FRIDAY

Ficklewood Ciderworks is hosting its first-ever Bingo Night from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You can join in on the game with the purchase of any cider. There will be normal rounds, speed rounds, full card rounds, and surprise bingo cards. Ficklewood Ciderworks is located at 720 East Broadway.

SATURDAY

The Plastic Free July Clean-up starts bright and early at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. LA Waterkeeper and the Long Beach Adopt-a-Beach program will provide limited cleaning supplies and encourage attendees to bring their own. The clean-up will be held at Junipero Beach at 1 Junipero Ave.

Love Long Beach Festival (link to Hannah’s article) is back for its seventh year. The annual event is a celebration of Long Beach that will take place this Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Attendees can enjoy face and body painting, snacks from the food court, and a vendor bazaar. The kid and family-friendly festival will be held at Shoreline Aquatic Park at 200 Aquarium Way. Tickets range from $25 to $100.  

Children of all ages can practice their reading with the Bark event at the Los Altos Neighborhood Library. Bark is a program that builds children reading skills while they read aloud to certified therapy dogs. It runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Los Altos Neighborhood Library is located at 5614 Britton Ave.

Wine and Paint is a beginner’s art class with instructions from Alexis Rivera. Rivera will guide guests in recreating a popular painting. All painting supplies will be provided, including an 11x 14 canvas. Tickets are $45. The class will be at the Hilton Long Beach at 701 West Ocean Blvd. from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

The Burnett Neighborhood Library hosts one-hour classes every Saturday and this Saturday, the class will be Computer Basics + Digital Library Tour from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. The Burnett Neighborhood Library is located at 560 E. Hill St.

SUNDAY

Summer Sun Bath Event at the Bixby Skate Park will have: guided meditation, sound healing, painting, sunbathing, and music. All are welcome to attend the event. It runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bixby Skate Park is located at 2000-2098 2nd St, near the cross street of Junipero Ave. and 1st. Registration is available on Eventbrite.

Front Porch Concert is a free concert series put on by the Long Beach Camerata Singers. Upon registering, you will receive an email with the address of the concert. This Sunday’s event begins at 4:30 p.m.

Compound is dedicated to supporting small businesses and this summer will be hosting Brunch with Kala every Sunday. Kala is a pop-up vendor and caterer that focuses on farm-fresh cuisine. Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase and coffee will be provided by Fifth Year Coffee Roaster. Reservations are requested so the caterer knows how much food to prepare but reservation does not guarantee availability. 

Healthy Sunday Mornings – Fitness, Yoga, and Meditation provides a morning of fitness on the beach starting at 10 a.m. Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle, additional items will be provided. Tickets are $35 and upon purchase, guests will receive an email location details.
