LBLN Weekend Round-up

Long Beach is a diverse city and there’s always something to do. Long Beach Local News has compiled a list of events you don’t want to miss this weekend.

FRIDAY

The City of Long Beach is teaming up with the Los Angeles Department of Public Health for Infant Formula Distribution from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Silverado Park, located at 1545 W. 31st St. Enfamil Infant Instant Formula Milk-based Powder with Iron and Similac Advance Powder Baby Formula will be available while supplies last. 

The Long Beach Museum of Art is screening The Little Prince for the Movies at the Museum program. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the screening starts at 7:30 p.m. Children ages 12 and under and members of the Long Beach Museum of Art receive free admission; general audience tickets are $5. Tickets include admission to current exhibits in the museum until 7 p.m. Snacks and beverages from Claire’s at the Museum will be available for purchase, outside food and beverages are not allowed. The Long Beach Museum of Art is located at 2300 E. Ocean Blvd. 

SATURDAY

Frenchie Meetup with the French Beachdogs is the perfect way for your French Beach dog to make some friends and get some exercise at Rosie’s Beach. The meetup runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Rosie’s Beach is located at 5000 E. Ocean Blvd. 

Collect-A-Con is the nation’s largest trading card, anime, and pop culture convention and it will be taking over the Long Beach Convention Center this weekend. Tickets run between $25 and $45. Special guests include Vanilla Ice, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and various voice actors behind your favorite cartoon characters. There will be over 500 vendors featuring sports cards, Funko POPS, comic books, and vintage toys. The convention will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Pet Supplies Plus is teaming up with Long Beach Animal Care Services for the Pet Supplies Plus Adoption Event. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus located at 2086 N. Broadway Blvd.

The 20th annual Freestyle Festival is back and will be held at the 1126 Queens Highway.. Food and drinks will be available to purchase. Live performances will include Lisa Lisa, Taylor Dayne, Soul II Soul, and The Cover Girls. Bring your phone chargers, sunscreen, and a good attitude. The doors open at 12 p.m. Tickets start at $99.

Long Beach Beer Lab is hosting Sip and Shop from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Guests can enjoy food, activities for all ages, and of course, local vendors with goods available for purchase. The Beer Lab is located at 518 W. Willow St. 

The Grand Opening of Beachwood Brewing is taking place at 4 p.m. There will be a food pop-up courtesy of Patricia’s and desserts from Nonna Mercanto, music, giveaways, brand new merch, live art, and a photo booth. The opening ends at 6 p.m and will be held at 3630 Atlantic Ave.

SUNDAY

The Aloha Run starts bright and early at 6 a.m. at the Shoreline Aquatic Park. There are options for a 5k or 10k walk or run. Participants will receive a free Aloha run t-shirt and a post-run luau complete with live music, dancers, and drummers. Registration can cost between $30 and $45. Shoreline Aquatic Park is located at 200 Aquarium Way.  

Cidercise Yoga with Long Beach Boot Camp is an all-level yoga practice with an afterparty complete with cider. The 45-minute yoga session begins at 10 a.m. There are no age restrictions to participate in yoga but you must be age 21 years or older to enjoy the cider. Bring your yoga mat! Tickets are $35 and include a flight of four ciders, a 16 oz pint glass from Long Beach Boot Camp, and one week of unlimited boot camps at Long Beach Boot Camp if you aren’t already a member. This event will be held at Ficklewood Ciderworks at 720 E. Broadway.
The Annual Charity Tennis Tournament is back for its second year at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center. The afternoon will have round-robin tennis games, a live DJ, and a silent auction. Proceeds for this event go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tickets begin at $65 plus a fee. The Billie Jean King Tennis Courts are located at 1040 Park Avenue.
