LBLN Weekend Round-up

Life in Long Beach is never dull! There’s always something going on and LBLN has put together a list of events you’ll want to check out this weekend.

FRIDAY

Fourth Fridays is a monthly event on 4th Street with pop-ups, live entertainment, and specials for shops, food, and services. Fourth Fridays is held outdoors and in the shops between the streets of Hermosa and Temple from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. All ages are welcome. 

Friends of Long Beach Animals 33rd Anniversary and Casino Night Celebration will be held at the Modern starting at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy various casino games such as poker and blackjack, a silent auction, three food stations, a DJ and dancing, appearances from two animals that the Friends of Long Beach have saved and a chance to be on PAWS TV. Tickets start at $50. The Modern is at 2801 E. Spring St.

SATURDAY

The Furry Friends Faire 2022 runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Los Cerritos Park, south of the tennis courts. This family-friendly event will feature a pet parade, a psychic animal communicator, and a famous dog trainer. The City of Long Beach Animal Control will be attending to help you find your new furry family member. Los Cerritos Park is located at 3750 Del Mar.

We Are Long Beach: Our Stories, Our Future is a community arts event put together by Visual Communications, the United Cambodian Community of Long Beach (UCC), and Cambodia Town Thrives (CTT). There will be screenings of three documentary shorts and then discussions and activities led by community leaders. This event is being held in the Community Room of the Mark Twain Library from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Mark Twain Library is located at 1401 E. Anaheim St. 

Midnight Insanity is putting on The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Art Theatre. Please keep in mind that this interactive show is Rated R. Dressing up is encouraged. Ticket prices begin at $9.The Art Theatre is at 2025 E. 4th St and the show begins at 11 p.m.

SUNDAY

The Woman’s National Book Association’s Literary Tea is back for its first event since before the pandemic. Attendees will be able to discuss books with other guests and local authors over tea. This will be held at Bel Canto Books, located at 2122 E. 4th St. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Roxanne’s is hosting a Fiesta Agostinas: Celebrating Salvadoran Food event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.Various tasty Salvadorian foods will be available for purchase such as handmade pupusas, tortillas con chorizo, and Salvadorian rum and beer. There is a $5 cover charge. Roxanne’s is located at 1115 E. Wardlow Road. 

The Pacific Kite Club is holding the Long Beach Kite Festival at Granada Beach from noon to 7 p.m. Attendees can expect food, live music, and of course, kites. Kids will receive free kites! There will also be a live Bangladeshi cultural dance and a DJ. The festival will be located at Granada Beach at 5100 E. Ocean Blvd.
