Police Arrest 29-year-old Brandon Nguyen for Fatal Stabbing at Dave’s Hot Chicken

Homicide detectives have successfully apprehended the suspect responsible for the fatal stabbing that occurred on March 3, 2024, on 2nd Street. Identified as Brandon Nguyen, a 29-year-old resident of Huntington Beach, the suspect was taken into custody at LAX Airport on March 4, 2024.

The investigation, led by Homicide detectives, involved the retrieval of security camera footage, collaboration with local businesses and community partners, and extensive efforts to identify the perpetrator. Chief of Police Wally Hebeish emphasized the department’s commitment to holding accountable those responsible for such acts of violence, stating, “We will not tolerate acts of violence in our community.”

The victim, a 20-year-old resident of Long Beach, has yet to be publicly identified pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner. The incident occurred in the early hours of March 3, 2024, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Officers were dispatched to the scene within minutes of the reported stabbing and immediately began administering medical aid to the victim, who later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the altercation leading to the stabbing involved two groups of individuals. The suspect, Brandon Nguyen, allegedly stabbed the victim during the confrontation before fleeing the scene along with others involved.

Detectives anticipate presenting the case to the District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration later this week.
