Stonewall Riots as 2019 Long Beach Pride’s theme

Long Beach just got way fabulous for the LGBTQ+ and supporting allies because pride week is here!

The 36th annual Long Beach Pride festival will take place this Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19 at the Marina Green Park and the parade will be on Sunday along Ocean Blvd.
Tickets are available online for $20 and can be found here. https://wl.seetickets.us/event/Long-Beach-Pride-2019/382318?afflky=LongBeachLesbianAndGayPride

Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.
With more than 80,000 expected attendees this weekend, this will be the second largest event in Long Beach this year.
This year’s pride will be especially different than the previous years because it is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

The history behind this particular event took place in 1969 in New York City, where police officers raided a local gay bar and harassed customers at the Stonewall Inn. This went on for six days straight, and eventually led to thousands of people coming together on the streets to fight for their rights.

The Stonewall Riots will be the theme of this year’s pride festival. Come out for two full days of live music, dancing, drag races, vendors, and fun for all age groups and show support for your local LGBTQ+ community!
