90-year-old Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

On Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 9:25 p.m., officers responded to Willow Street and La Vere Drive regarding an injury hit and run traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult male pedestrian laying in the roadway near the intersection of Willow Street and La Vere Drive. Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered aid to the injured party and transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a white Toyota Tacoma truck was traveling westbound on Willow Street and collided with a pedestrian, who was walking northbound in an unmarked cross walk across Willow Street at La Vere Drive. The driver of the truck failed to remain on scene and fled without providing any information.

The victim is only being identified as a 90-year-old resident of Long Beach, pending notification to next of kin.
