Young Horizons Celebrates 50 Years of Service in Long Beach

Young Horizons has provided families with affordable childcare assistant for the past 50 years. Their services include Pre-school, Extended Daycare, Reading Development, Psychological treatment and Children’s day treatment. A milestone anniversary will be celebrated at the Maya Hotel tonight in Long Beach for their 50 years of service.

Young Horizons was founded by Dr. Gerhard Kohn and his wife Irena, serving Los Angeles and Orange County. In 1984 they opened their first state-funded child development center in Long Beach for low-income families.

Since their opening, they have expanded to five centers and serving over 400 children a day. “At Young Horizons, our primary purpose and activity are ensuring that low-income children develop the fundamental knowledge and skills they need to keep up and compete with their peers,” says Executive Director Sarah Soriano.

The anniversary gala will honor contributors for their years of service. The evening will include music from Jazz Angels, a light dinner, a Golden wall of auction items and an award ceremony. All funds raised will help to further the five development centers. To purchase tickets to the gala of more information visit http://www.younghorizons.org/
