Shipping Containers Heading to Long Beach Fall during Storm

Ocean Network Express (ONE) says 1,816 containers fell into the ocean during a storm as the ship crossed the Pacific to the Port of Long Beach last week.

The 1,816 units lost, 64 contained fireworks, batteries and liquid ethanol.

According to the shipping company Ocean Network Express, the shop was moving goods from China to Long Beach, California, when it encountered strong winds and large swells with 50-foot waves about 1,840 miles northwest of Hawaii on Monday.

Claims of the cargo is expected to top $50 million from this accident, the worst container loss since 2013.

The U.S. Coast Guard is not sure where the containers are, but they are monitoring the situation as the ship returned to Japan for repairs.
