Atlantic Avenue Closure for Arson Suspect Negotiation Ends With Arrest

At approximately 12:26 p.m. this afternoon, LBPD detectives located a felony arson suspect in the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue at the scene of a public trashcan engulfed in flames.

As detectives and officers attempted to contact the suspect, he reportedly became agitated.

Officers proceeded to establish a perimeter around the scene and began to negotiate with the suspect for his safe surrender.

After a short while, officers safely arrested the suspect. 

There are still a lot of questions to be asked. The unnamed suspect’s booking is pending and the investigation is ongoing.
