Father Arrested after Infant Dies following Motel Incident

A Los Angeles man has been arrested after a domestic violence incident at a local motel resulted in the death of a 10-month-old infant.

LONG BEACH, CA – On Feb. 9, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a domestic violence incident, and through further investigation, determined to also be a murder of a male infant.

Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who stated she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, who was later identified as Jeremy Wade, a 23-year-old resident of Los Angeles. The female victim told officers that she shares a child with Wade and that he and the child were asleep in a nearby hotel room.

Patrol officers located Wade and Isiah Gaston, a 10-month-old male infant inside a motel room. Gaston was unresponsive and officers began rendering life-saving measures until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the child to a nearby hospital — where he later succumbed to his injuries. Due to the suspicious circumstances of the incident, Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and investigated.

Detectives discovered evidence that Wade caused serious bodily injury to Gaston, which resulted in his death. Detectives arrested Jeremy Wade and he was booked for murder. He is currently being held on $2,000,000 bail in the Long Beach City Jail. Detectives anticipate presenting the case to the
Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later this week for filing consideration.
