Long Beach Launches “Soccer in the LBC” Summer Cel Long Beach Launches “Soccer in the LBC” Summer Celebration Long Beach is gearing up for a summer of soccer with the launch of “Soccer in the LBC,” a citywide series of free fan experiences, cultural celebrations and community events taking place throughout this summer’s global soccer tournament. Stabbing in West Long Beach Leaves One Man Dead D Stabbing in West Long Beach Leaves One Man Dead Detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Monday night in West Long Beach, leaving one man dead. According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:28 p.m. on June 1 to the 1800 block of Harbor Avenue following reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. Officers immediately began rendering aid until personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and took over medical treatment. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police said the suspect or suspects fled the area before officers arrived and remain outstanding. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation. Authorities have not released any suspect description, and investigators say the circumstances surrounding the attack, as well as a possible motive, remain under investigation. Man Stabbed Near 400 Block Shorline in Long Beach; Man Stabbed Near 400 Block Shorline in Long Beach; Suspect Remains at Large A man was hospitalized Saturday evening after being stabbed in downtown Long Beach, according to police. The incident occurred on May 30, 2026, at approximately 7:01 p.m. Officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and arrived to find an adult male suffering from a stab wound to his upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim and an adult male suspect were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into violence when the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived and has not been located. Police have not released a description of the suspect, and no arrests have been made. 15-Year-Old Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Teen in 15-Year-Old Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Teen in North Long Beach A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another 15-year-old in North Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The shooting occurred on May 28 at approximately 12:32 p.m. near Cedar Avenue and Plymouth Street. Officers responding to reports of a shooting found a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital, where he later died. The suspect fled before officers arrived, launching an intensive investigation involving homicide detectives, SWAT personnel, patrol officers, and specialized investigative units. Police said detectives quickly identified the suspect as a 15-year-old Long Beach resident. On May 29, detectives with the Special Investigations Division located and arrested him in Lakewood. The juvenile was booked for murder and minor in possession of a firearm before being transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, where he is being held without bail. “I am deeply troubled by the killing of a 15-year-old and it is extremely alarming that the suspect believed responsible is also 15 years old,” Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said in a statement. “The Long Beach Police Department will never allow youth violence to be normalized in our community.” Hebeish credited officers and detectives for quickly securing evidence, identifying the suspect, and making an arrest less than 24 hours after the shooting. The victim has been preliminarily identified as a 15-year-old boy, but his name has not been released pending official identification and notification of family members by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The motive remains under investigation. Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

Police said the suspect fled before officers arrived on scene. Homicide detectives later responded and took over the investigation. As of Friday, investigators have not released any new information about the suspect, possible motive, or circumstances leading up to the shooting. The identity of the victim is also being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The deadly shooting triggered a massive police response that lasted more than seven hours in North Long Beach. Multiple SWAT units, armored vehicles, drones, and helicopters flooded the area while officers shut down portions of Long Beach Boulevard searching for the suspect. Despite the extensive operation and large amount of police resources used throughout the afternoon and evening, authorities were unable to locate or arrest the suspect. The first overnight attack happened May 28 at approximately 10:36 p.m. in the 4500 block of California Avenue. Officers responded to a stabbing and found an adult female suffering from stab wounds to her upper and lower body. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported her to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Investigators said the woman was walking in the area when a male suspect approached and stabbed her before fleeing. The motive and suspect information remain under investigation. Hours later, at approximately 2:33 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting in the 2300 block of East Market Street. Police said a male victim was involved in a physical altercation when the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired one shot before fleeing. The victim was not struck, and no injuries were reported. Then, around 3:09 a.m., officers responded to another stabbing in the 3200 block of East Anaheim Street. Officers located a male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No arrests have been announced in any of the incidents. The back-to-back acts of violence have sparked renewed criticism from residents questioning city leadership and public safety efforts ahead of next week’s election. Some residents are asking where Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson has been as shootings, stabbings, and violent crime continue making headlines across the city. All four investigations remain ongoing.

Investigators say the victims told officers the shooting appeared to be a drive-by attack. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene as detectives continued processing evidence overnight. No suspect information has been released. The latest shooting comes amid growing frustration from some Long Beach residents who say violent crime and shootings continue to impact neighborhoods across the city. Critics have also pointed to a lack of public comments from Rex Richardson regarding this latest shooting and broader concerns over rising violence in parts of Long Beach. At approximately 3:26 a.m., a North Division patrol sergeant in the 3600 block of Orange Avenue observed a man allegedly tampering with wiring connected to a city light fixture. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional victims were rescued and transported to local trauma centers for medical treatment. Their conditions have not yet been released. The collapse prompted a large emergency response as rescue crews worked to stabilize the scene and safely extract the victims from the trench. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation. Officials have not yet released the identity of the man who died.

When officers arrived, personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department were providing emergency medical aid to the child. The child was transported to a local hospital, where they later died from their injuries. The child was possibly around eight-years-old. The preliminary investigation found that a 2020 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Paramount Boulevard when the child reportedly ran into the street and was struck by the vehicle. The driver, identified only as a 27-year-old man from Paramount, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Long Beach Fire personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The suspect fled before officers arrived, and the investigation remains ongoing. The shooting followed two separate stabbings reported on May 10. At approximately 8:13 p.m., officers responded to the 5600 block of Long Beach Boulevard where a male adult victim was found with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Earlier that morning around 5:14 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Anaheim Street where another male adult victim was located with multiple non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Both victims were transported to local hospitals, and investigators say the motive and suspect information in all three incidents remain under investigation. The recent violence has left many residents questioning the city’s public safety messaging. Mayor Rex Richardson and city officials have pointed to statistics showing reductions in some crime categories, but many residents say shootings, stabbings, and other violent incidents continue to impact neighborhoods across the city. Residents are now asking why crime feels like it is increasing and what additional steps are being taken to reduce violence and improve safety in Long Beach communities.
