Woman struck and killed near Artesia and Butler in North Long Beach

On 04/28/20, at approximately 3:00 p.m., LBPD officers were dispatched to Butler Ave and Artesia Blvd regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle (Dodge Dakota) and pedestrian. 

Upon arrival, officers found an adult female unconscious and not breathing.

The driver of the Dakota remained at the scene and is cooperative with the investigation. The female was determined deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire Personnel.

Preliminary investigation revealed the female pedestrian ran northbound across Artesia Blvd into traffic and was struck by the Dakota traveling eastbound on Artesia Blvd. It is believed the female was outside of the crosswalk when she was struck.

Artesia Blvd from Butler Ave to the 710 Northbound Artesia Blvd exit will remain closed for vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.

Detectives from the Collision Investigation Detail were notified and responded to the scene
